The grass season kicked off in Stuttgart for Andy Murray ahead of what is likely to be his final outings at Queen’s and Wimbledon this summer. But the 37-year-old fell flat in his first-round tie with Marcos Giron, suffering a straight-sets defeat. Murray hasn’t won a tour-level match since March following a streak of four losses in a row.
Andy Murray admitted his “game needs to improve” after his grass-court season got off to a disappointing start as he lost in straight sets to Marcos Giron in the first round of the Stuttgart Open.
The 37-year-old is working towards what looks set to be his final appearance at Wimbledon, but he fell well short of his best form in Germany as he lost 6-3 6-4 to the world No. 54 in 75 minutes.
Murray failed to break the American’s serve in either set as he suffered a fourth consecutive tour-level match loss, a run stretching back to the Miami Open in March.
