Great news for Iga Świątek! Is the Pole the favorite to win?

For those who couldn’t wait for Iga Świątek to return to the court, we have good news. The Polish player will probably play in the WTA 500 tournament in Seoul. In addition, the leader of the ranking is losing her strongest rivals. Among others, the US Open winner Aryna Sabalenka is missing from the starting list.
The US Open quarterfinals were certainly not the desired result for Iga Świątek. The Pole improved her result from a year ago, but a defeat in two sets to the clearly better Jessica Pegula that day deprived our player of promotion to the best four of the American slam.
The Pole must be on her guard until the end of the year if she wants to maintain her position as the leader of the WTA ranking. For this reason, our player will most likely take part in the upcoming WTA 500 tournament in Seoul. Our player is on the list of participants in the competition in South Korea and although the official ladder is not known, there are many indications that the leader of the ranking will fight for more ranking points here.
Considering that the competition in Seoul has a 500 rank since this season, the Pole can collect a solid amount of points. In addition, Świątek is losing out on demanding rivals. The list of participants does not include Aryna Sabalenka, Jelena Rybakina or Jessica Pegula. However, this does not mean that other top tennis players will not play in Korea. The list of entries includes names such as Kasatkina, Pliskova and Potapova.
The competition in Korea will begin on September 16.
