The most beautiful moment”: Steffi Graf turns emotional as memories of her mother hit her
Steffi Graf recently teared up talking about her mother after watching Simona Halep’s father get emotional watching the Romanian walk on the court. The German’s comments came following the conclusion of an exhibition match.
Graf teamed up with her husband and fellow tennis superstar Andre Agassi and played against home heroes Simona Halep and Andrei Pavel. The match was a part of SportsFestival, a sports fest that aims to help citizens indulge in sports. The festival was scheduled from June 13-16. Apart from the sporting spectacle, the sports fest also organized concerts and had a food zone and a kids’ area.
Agassi-Graf showdown with the Romanian top tennis talents was the headline event of the fifth edition of this fest. The match was played on June 15 in the BT Arena in front of a packed stadium with 10000 people. The result of the match went in the favor of the Romanians, as Halep/ Pavel won 8-4.
“The most beautiful moment last night was Simona Halep’s Dad last night, crying as she was walking in. And that reminded, you know, sometimes it’s helpful support. Sometimes it’s a little hard, sometimes it’s tough. But ultimately, that relationship is only kind of like [inaudible],” Steffi Graf said.
