Swiatek’s spectacular exchange. She was not afraid of the world’s top tennis player

It was a show of strength by Iga Świątek, who in one of the mixed games actions against Norway in the United Cup even went into an exchange of blows with Casper Ruud. And she won an important point for Poland, and the recording went viral.

There was a super tie-break, in which Ruud, currently the sixth racket in the world, and Ulrikke Eikeri (1031. WTA) were leading Świątek and Jan Zieliński 4-3. The Norwegian was serving, and an exchange between him and Zieliński immediately ensued. After a moment, Ruud returned the ball to Świątek, who responded with a powerful forehand from deep in the court.

The three-time Grand Slam finalist didn’t give up, but neither did Świątek. She even went for the exchange, only to win the point with a surprising diagonal forehand.

“SHE COULD EASILY PLAY IN THE ATP”
After the WTA vice-leader played, fans applauded while standing. The recording went viral. One commentator on social media wrote that Świątek “is so good that she could easily play in the ATP,” i.e. compete on the men’s tour.

Ultimately, Świątek and Zieliński won 6-3, 0-6, 10-8, gaining the decisive point in the match against Norway (2-1).
– Iga definitely rules in our mixed pair, I only assist her. She is the biggest star of our team and the leader, so she leads and we follow her – said Zieliński about Świątek. In the second match of Group B, Poland will face the Czech Republic on Wednesday.

TEST BEFORE THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN
The United Cup is a test before the Australian Open, which begins on January 12. There are a maximum of 500 ATP and WTA ranking points up for grabs, and a prize pool of $10 million.

Eighteen teams competed in Sydney and Perth, split into six groups of three teams. The group winners advance to the quarter-finals, as do the best second-place team in each city.
