It Was a Battle! Iga Świątek Stages a Stunning Comeback

Iga Świątek Advances to the WTA 1000 Doha Quarterfinals After a Hard-Fought Battle Against Linda Nosková

Iga Świątek secured her spot in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Doha after a grueling three-set victory over Czech player Linda Nosková, winning 6-7(1), 6-4, 6-4. The Polish star entered the third-round match following the surprising eliminations of top-ranked players Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and Jasmine Paolini. Despite Nosková’s impressive recent form, Świątek managed to hold her ground and fight her way to victory.

This latest clash continued the trend of their previous encounters, with three out of their last five matches going to a decisive set. Świątek had to dig deep after losing the first set in a one-sided tiebreak, where she managed to win just one point. However, she responded strongly in the second set, breaking Nosková after a stunning return and eventually closing out the set after forcing errors from her opponent.

In the final set, Świątek seemed to gain control early, breaking Nosková to take a 2-0 lead. However, the Czech player fought back, winning three consecutive games to shift the momentum. Świątek stayed composed, took advantage of Nosková’s growing inconsistency, and secured the crucial break at 5-4. The match ended dramatically as Nosková hit a forehand into the net on match point, then threw her racket in frustration. With this win, Świątek now faces Elena Rybakina in what promises to be an intense quarterfinal showdown.
