Great Rivals Together Again? Surprising Reports

The Swiss player has not competed since 2022, and the Spaniard played his last match on Tuesday in Malaga.

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer may join forces once again after their careers have ended, as revealed by Federer’s agent, Tony Godsick, on tennis365.com. According to him, the dream is for both tennis legends to collaborate at the Laver Cup, and they are also considering the possibility of exhibition matches.

During Federer’s final match in 2022 at the Laver Cup, he partnered with Nadal. Despite losing to Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe, the emotions were overwhelming. Nadal, who recently retired, fondly recalled that moment.

Federer couldn’t be present at Nadal’s farewell in Malaga during the Davis Cup match (Spain vs. Netherlands), but he expressed his admiration in an Instagram letter addressed to his former on-court rival. Godsick revealed that Federer would be willing to return to the court if Nadal asked him to play doubles at the Laver Cup.

Godsick suggested that Barcelona could host the Laver Cup in 2026. “We are working on it and have several options,” he said. Spain’s rich tennis tradition makes it an ideal location for such an event.

The agent also mentioned the possibility of playing an exhibition match at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. “If the opportunity arises, I am sure Roger would consider it,” Godsick added. Nadal and Federer exemplify that fierce competition on the court doesn’t exclude friendship off it.
