Andy Murray was unable to play his last men’s singles at Wimbledon due to surgery to remove a cyst on his back, a problem that arose during his participation in the Queen’s Club Championships.

The 37-year-old still does not know if he will be able to participate in the Paris Olympics. However, the course of his back injury does not seem to be going well. Andy wanted to show his fans the reason why he continues to suffer from discomfort and had to withdraw from his favorite tournament. Through an Instagram story, Murray published a photo showing the terrible signs left by the surgery. A back injury, after the surgery, that certainly does not leave anyone feeling at ease.

The Scot, unfortunately, was unable to fully enjoy his last appearance at the Championships. A few hours before what was supposed to be his debut in the first round of the men’s draw, Murray withdrew from the event, succumbing to back problems. Things didn’t go any better in the men’s doubles played with his brother Jamie. His adventure ended in the first round, beaten by the pair Rinky Hijikata and John Peers. The 3-time Slam champion was also supposed to participate in the mixed doubles with countrywoman Emma Raducanu, but a physical problem suffered by the young British player prevented it.

The Scot, however, at least enjoyed the beautiful final tribute on Centre Court, organized for him by the board of the All England Club. The ceremony organized by Wimbledon for him on the most famous lawn in the world, gave him a long round of applause and deeply moved him.

“I really appreciated that some of the best players in the history of the game were there to see me. People I have a lot of respect for. I didn’t expect my daughters to come. When we were waiting in the locker room, I saw on one of the TVs that they were sitting there with my wife. It was nice. I thank everyone,” he said.
