Andy Murray has received a huge offer to play at Wimbledon 2025 after Emma Raducanu snubbed him as a mixed doubles partner in 2024. He was robbed of making one final appearance at the All England Club when Raducanu controversially pulled out of their first-round match on Saturday.

The 37-year-old British tennis legend played at the Championships for the final time before retirement this summer, teaming up with his brother Jamie in the men’s doubles, as they lost their opening match on an emotional night in SW19. He was not fit enough to compete in the singles due to a back injury and entered mixed doubles with Raducanu for one last send-off before she made a big U-turn.

Raducanu’s brutal call means that Murray will never play another match at Wimbledon unless he reverses his decision and comes back to play next year. Novak Djokovic also tipped Murray to do exactly that and the British sporting icon did not appear to rule out doubles in 2025 when asked about the Serbian’s remarks.

Now, 2021 Wimbledon champion Ashleigh Barty, working for the BBC at this year’s Championships, has offered to team up with Murray in doubles for 2025. ‘It is hard, because I would love to keep playing but I can’t,’ Murray said about his upcoming retirement. ‘Physically it’s just too tough now. All of the injuries have added up and like I said they haven’t been insignificant.
‘I want to play forever. I love this sport. It’s given me so much, taught me loads of lessons over the years that I can use for the rest of my life. I don’t want to stop so it is hard.’

Murray is set to play his final event in singles tennis at the upcoming Olympic tennis tournament in Paris, scheduled to run from July 27 to August 4.
