Roger Federer Imitates Zendaya’s challengers Character
Federer, who played his last professional tennis match in September 2022, took to X (formerly Twitter) today to playfully welcome Zendaya as a new brand partner to Swiss sportswear brand On. “It’s On,” Federer posted with a winky face emoji, imitating Zendaya’s character Tashi Duncan in Challengers:
The reference to Challengers was especially notable, given that the film’s screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes said that he based Zendaya’s character, Tashi, partly off of Federer’s wife, Mirka. “She looked so stressed out, every point,” Kuritzkes told GQ about watching Mirka watch Roger play at Wimbledon. “I was watching her and just thinking, ‘Why are you so stressed out? You guys have all the money in the world. You’ve won 20 grand slams. What’s so stressful to you? It has to be something else.'”
